SOUTH ANKOLE PARTNERSHP WITH GAHINI DIOCESE IN RWANDA.
Following the Diocesan Staff Visit to Rwanda in June 2014 where a group of 37 members (Archdeacons and Bishop’s Office Staff) were hosted by Gahini Diocese, a friendship and Partnership has materialized.
Some Highlights from that Visit
The Team had a warm welcome from the Rt. Rev. Alex Birindagabo- the Diocesan Bishop together with his team. They were treated to a nice lunch after which we were led to tour around the historical places of Gahini- the centre of Revival. One striking site was Kikuyu venue where Christians would commit never to leave Jesus with a “thumb print”
The team then had a great evening session of Fellowship that was led by Bishop Nathan and facilitated by the Hosting bishop -Bishop Alex Birindagabo is married to Dr. Grace Birindagabo and they have 6 biological children and 5 adopted and He has been a bishop for 23 years and became the first bishop Of Gahini Diocese in 1997. The Main theme was revolving around “Understanding your Call” –
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” Everyone has been given a general call but a few people have been give a specific calling.
26 “Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him”
To be called God knows you and you have to know God. You can’t be an ambassador who is not known by the president. God’s servants must strive to know him and keep a close relationship with Him. It is disaster to have none born again pastors in Church. “Be careful not to call yourself into ministry- You have to know God and be known to Him” The Bishop Said. Pastors and all God’s servants should train themselves to Love God and to continually listen from Him.
God does not call the powerful but empowers the called and if you think you are powerful, be careful not to be full of yourself because God will humble you down like the case of Moses. Having been raised from a Royal Palace, He thought he had it all and could sort things his own way (killing the Egyptian) but God had to humble him down through the 40 years in the desert grazing Sheep.
